Problem

Do you have trouble finding the perfect vacation destination? It’s understandable, given the infinite number of places to stay and things to do! How can you be sure the vacation will be exactly what you envision – be that relaxing, exciting, or something in between?

Solution

CertainCity is designed to help you find the perfect place, at dates you choose, within your budget. Instead of you telling the app where you want to go, simply set your parameters – environment, weather, and activities – and the app will provide you with several ideal vacation locations. Find your favorite and book right through the app.

Secondary research findings show that people do have trouble finding where to go on vacation.
Screener survey results shows that some people do have trouble deciding where to go on vacation, as well as sticking to a budget and making the process as stress-free as possible.

"Find a destination" User flows show how a user would interact with the app, showing decision making points and the screens that would follow based upon those decisions.
"Book a Trip" User flows show how a user would interact with the app, showing decision making points and the screens that would follow based upon those decisions.
Wireframe sketches are hand drawn and serve as a first draft of what the screens will look like.
CertainCity's style guide features a navy blue, a bright orange-red, and a very light blue color along with white. Photos in the app are picturesque landscape images of popular travel destinations.
Low fidelity mockups are black and white screens designed to have placeholders instead of images and incomplete text.
High fidelity mockups show the final design of the app, with full-color screens and clickable buttons.
Usability tests showed no critical errors, but some trouble scrolling and wanting to separate city size from environment.
Design modifications show improvements which include a second screen for city size.
